A team of LASIGE, constituted by Nuno Neves, Fernando Ramos, Max Alaluna and Eric Vial, demonstrated the creation of a virtual network connecting 10 000 Docker containers over a multi-cloud setting spanning three providers (Amazon, Google, and LASIGE as a private cloud). The event was held during the SUPERCLOUD project meeting at the Orange Gardens Innovation Center in Châtillon, south of Paris.

On November 8th, 2017, Arquivo.pt celebrated its 10th anniversary with the accomplishment of the initiative "Archivo.pt: New ways to travel to the past". The initiative marked the work developed by Arquivo.pt, a tool that in the future will allow society to understand how the past was in this time, increasingly digital and multimedia.
The project Arquivo.pt started at LASIGE, when Daniel Gomes, its project manager, were a LASIGE researcher and PhD student, and have been gaining volume at FCT-FCCN where he currently works.
The 2017 INForum - Simpósio de Infomática edition, the most renowned National event in computer Science, received, as common since its first edition, a strong LASIGE participation with 14 authored/co-authored articles and 17 registrants from the unit taking part at the sympsosium, held in Aveiro, Portugal, October 12-13, 2017.

The app helpAR developed by Alcides Fonseca, along with two colleague researchers, had won the 1st place prize at Pixels Camp hackathon.
The app goal is to improve the shopping experience by applying AR and Machine Learning models, and was rewarded by its creativity and innovation being the one that most singled out at the event's hackathon.
The last Talk @ DI organised by FCUL Informatics Department was given, at October 3rd, 2017, by ex-LASIGE researcher and FCUL PhD graduate, João Antunes, who shared his journey and gave a glimpse of the life lesson acquired by, from a PhD graduate, who with no experience traveled to Silicon Valley for his first job at a startup tech company, and now, 5 years later, still lives and works in the heart of the technology mecca.
he European Peering Forum organisation invited Fernando Ramos to provide a talk that addressed "Securing the Internet at the Exchange Point" at the 2017 event edition that took place in Lisbon, Portugal, from September 18 to 20.
As part of the European ALTHOUR project, FCUL, together with its UL partners and the Universities of Maastricht, Leuven and Macerata, is organizing an Autumn Entrepreneurship free course, intended for PhD students and researchers at the beginning of their careers, and will take place in the weeks of October 23 to 27, 2017 and December 4 to 8, 2017, with remote award activities.
