Teresa Chambel was invited, with two other Professors from the FCUL Informatics Department, Pedro Veiga and Luís Correia, to participate as invited speakers at the first E-Tech Portugal conference, held in early June 2016, in Setúbal, Portugal. Teresa Chambel participated in the panel gathered around the topic "As TICE têm Sexo ?" (Does ICT have gender ?), with the objective to raise the awareness and interest of the Portuguese society about the importance of the participation and success of women in the area of Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

The article "Snooping on Mobile Phones: Prevalence and Trends" with authorship of LaSIGE's researchers, Diogo Marques, Tiago Guerreiro and Luis Carriço, in collaboration with researchers from the University of British Columbia, Canada, received the "Distinguished Paper Award " at SOUPS conference (Symposium on Usable Privacy and Security), which is currently taking place (June 22-24) in Denver, Colorado, USA.

LaSIGE is supporting the organization of the iV 2016 - 20th International Conference Information Visualisation that aims to focus on the interdisciplinary methods and affiliated research done among various science disciplines, medicine, engineering, media and commerce.

The joint study agreement between FCUL and IBM Research has been extended for one year. LASIGE researchers Tiago Guerreiro, Diogo Marques, and Luís Carriço, will continue to collaborate with staff at IBM's TJ Watson Research Center, on research studies on the growing area of Usable Security, as well as on Mobile Accessibility.

The magazine "Louis Braille", edited by the national association for people who are blind or have low vision (ACAPO), presents an interview with Tiago Guerreiro and a student from the Biology course at FCUL on how the former taught Braille reading and writing to the student.

The National FP Promotion Office “GPPQ - Gabinete de Promoção do Programa-Quadro de I&I” invited Francisco Couto to be a member of the National Monitoring Technical Group (GTA) of the Portuguese Delegation to the Programatic Committee (CP) of the H2020 Societal Challenge 1 - Health, Demographic Change and Wellbeing.
