Carlos Duarte was invited to the "How can technology increase seniors' autonomy" panel at the Ageing Futures conference that took place at the Instituto de Ciências Sociais da Universidade de Lisboa on June 21st.

The 23rd International Conference on Reliable Software Technologies - Ada-Europe 2018, organized by LASIGE members, took place this week in Lisbon and attracted a large number of participants from more than 20 countries. Almost 50% of the participants were from the industry.
The 3rd LaSIGE Workshop will be held on June 7, 2018, at the FCiências.ID Auditorium (C1 building) and aims at reinforcing the connections among its members and the scientific community.
LASIGE has invited Mauricio Breternitz to give a talk next Wednesday (23rd of May), at 14pm in room 6.3.38) about his research experience and how universities can collaborate more with the industry. Mauricio has a vast industrial research experience draw from his times at IBM, Motorola, Intel and AMD, among others.
This Thursday, on the 26th of April, several LASIGE members are taking part on the organization of Girls in ICT, an event to promote ICT-releated careers to young women. This year's edition has an extra goal: to show woman that have a degree in other areas that they can too learn computer Science and take advantage of the high employment rates in this field.

The Department of Informatics and LASIGE have invited Tom Bartindale, a Human Computer Interaction researcher to give a talk on collaborative media production and the rise of objects. Tom will share with us his experiences of event manager and technician and how it impacted his research in new media production.
The talk will take place on the 14th of March, at 14h on room C.6.3.38.

This week Data Science Seminar at Ciências will be presented by LASIGE researcher Sara Madeira. The seminar will cover biclustering techniques for identifying objects and their patterns in large datasets, ranging from genomics to social data. The seminar will take place on the 21st of February at 14h on room C6.3.38.
LASIGE's very own Cátia Pesquita will be giving the next Data Science Seminar on the 7th of February , giving an overview of the current state of the Semantic Web in Data Mining and Retrieval, as well as presenting her latest contributions on the field. The talk will on February, 7 at 14h in room C.6.3.38.
