The Best Early Career Paper Award at the International Conference on Biomedical Ontology 2015, held in Lisbon (July 27-30), was awarded to Catarina Martins, Ernesto Jimenez-Ruiz, Emanuel Santos and Catia Pesquita. The paper, with the title "Towards visualizing the mapping incoherences in Bioportal", is a collaboration between LaSIGE researchers and Oxford University. The award was sponsored by PeerJ.
The LxMLS - 5th Lisbon Machine Learning School, hosted in IST, from July 16 to 23, had an special session, on July 21, dedicated to demos.
The session counted with an demo from LaSIGE, aiming of solving machine learning problems through technology.
LxMLS Demo day is an informal gathering that brings together a number of highly technical companies and research institutions alongside with students from LxMLS and other Portuguese institutions.

Teresa Chambel is co-organizing the Immersive Media Experiences Workshop @ACM Multimedia 2015, taking place in Brisbane, Australia, on October 26-30, 2015.
This international workshop was created by the chairs, from LaSIGE @ULisboa, INESC-TEC, UTAustin, MIT Media Lab and BBC, at the premier international conference on multimedia: ACM Multimedia. This is the 3rd edition of the workshop, after the first successful editions in Barcelona, Spain, in 2013, and in Orlando, FL, USA in 2014.
The next W4A 2016 - 13th Web for All Conference, to be held in Montreal, Canada 2016, will be co-chaired by Tiago Guerreiro from LaSIGE and Greg Gay from Ryerson University, Canada. The conference is going to be held in Montreal, Canada, co-located with WWW 2016.

The Computing Reviews' 19th Annual Best of Computing list selected the publication "The stream-based service-centred calculus: a foundation for service-oriented programming" co-authored by Francisco Martins and Vasco Vasconcelos among others, as a notable article in computing in 2014.
