Nuno Neves was invited by the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) to be member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the PEARL (Excellence Programme for Research in Luxembourg) project IISD - Strategic RTnD Program on Information Infrastructure Security and Dependability.
The first SAB meeting occurred recently and is expected to contribute as a guide to advise on the overall strategy and direction as well as on the management and implementation of the mentioned research programme.
The ALHTOUR project first Steering Committee meeting takes place on March 7. The meeting includes a tour of the facilities of two partners, being Lasige one of them. The SC members, together with partners from other UL institutions will visit Lasige and attend short presentations on ongoing works related to the health technology’s domain. ALHTOUR will also organize a workshop on March 8 on the topic of best practices in research and innovation for the Health Tourism sector, where Carlos Duarte will co-lead a working group on Health Technology
LaSIGE recently received the notification of another paper accepted in a high ranked conference, namely at the EUROGRAPHICS 2016 - 37th Annual Conference of the European Association for Computer Graphics, that will take place from May 9th to 13th, 2016, in Lisbon, Portugal.
The second General Assembly of the PersonAAL project took place in Lisbon on the 4th and 5th of February, organised by Lasige.
The PersonAAL project aims at extending the time older people can live independently in their homes, by integrating ubiquitous data collection, intelligent reasoning mechanisms, and automatic context-dependent adaptation of supportive applications to promote increased awareness and healthier lifestyles.
COST Action IC1201: Behavioural Types for Reliable Large-Scale Software Systems (BETTY), is organizing a Summer School, that will take place in Limassol, Cyprus, from June 27th to July 1st 2016.
Vasco Vasconcelos, co-chair of the BETTY Working Group Foundations, will give a lecture about the topic "Type-based tools: SePi and ParTypes".

The work developed by Tiago Guerreiro and Hugo Nicolau, was strongly highlighted in the recent high-tech news of P3 (Público newspaper). The article with the title "They placed technology at the service of blind people" presents in detail the HoliBraille tool, developed to allow and facilitate the writing in Braille in the "smartphones", described in the Braille2.1 project webpage.

LaSIGE recently received the notification of acceptance of one more H2020 project.
The project, entitled DiSIEM - Diversity Enhancements for SIEMs, will be lead by LaSIGE and will count with participants from UK, Portugal, Spain and Germany.
Anabela Rodrigues, a junior researcher at LaSIGE and a master student at FCUL, advised by Tiago Guerreiro, has started a 4-month stay, supported by an Erasmus+ scholarship, with Dr. Kyle Montague and Prof. Patrick Olivier, at the University of Newcastle, in the OpenLab, one of the most noticeable HCI research labs in Europe.
