Teresa Chambel is Workshop Chair of AltMM 2016 - 1st International Workshop on Multimedia Alternate Realities, at ACM Multimedia, the premier international conference on Multimedia, taking place on October 16th 2016, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
The article "Effect of Target Size on Non-Visual Text-Entry" with authorship of the LaSIGE's researchers, André Rodrigues, Tiago Guerreiro and Luis Carriço, in collaboration with researchers from the Instituto Superior Técnico (Univ. of Lisbon) and School of Computing Science (Newcastle Univ.), received an "Honorable Mention Award " at MobileHCI 2016 conference that took place September 6th to 9th, at Florence, Italy.
The Brazilian University "Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná" recently organized the ICT & Smart Grid Workshop of Security for Smart Grid and invited Nuno Neves to be one of the speakers of the event that aimed to present the challenges and recent research results of security and privacy area for smart grid.
The event also addressed the critical infrastructure (hardware, telecommunications infrastructure and management system) of the smart grid, considering the integrated security in this infrastructure.
LxMLS demo day counted this year with LaSIGE's participation in this informal gathering that brought together a number of highly technical companies and research institutions alongside students from serveral Portuguese institutions, all with the aim of solving machine learning problems through technology.

The organization of the seminarBig Data, Desenvolvimento Sustentável e a Ciência Aberta (Big Data, Sustainable Development and Open Science), invited LaSIGE's PhD student, André Lamúrias, to present a talk about his work within the field of the Biomedical Informatics research line.

Teresa Chambel was invited, with two other Professors from the FCUL Informatics Department, Pedro Veiga and Luís Correia, to participate as invited speakers at the first E-Tech Portugal conference, held in early June 2016, in Setúbal, Portugal. Teresa Chambel participated in the panel gathered around the topic "As TICE têm Sexo ?" (Does ICT have gender ?), with the objective to raise the awareness and interest of the Portuguese society about the importance of the participation and success of women in the area of Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
