The talk with the title "Deadlock Avoidance in Parallel Programs with Futures: Why parallel tasks should not wait for strangers" will address the work accepted to be presented at SPLASH/OOPSLA 2017, CORE A* Conference.
The University of Lisbon Scientific Prizes' jury have awarded Francisco Couto with a Honorable Mention at 2017 awards. The prizes, instituted by the University of Lisbon in collaboration with Caixa Geral de Depósitos, aim to reward the scientific research activity and to encourage the publication in international journals of recognized quality.

The LASIGE members Pedro Sá da Costa and Fernando Ramos, in joint work with Miguel Correia (IST-UL), have won the Best Student Paper Award in CCGRID 2017 - 17th IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Cluster, Cloud and Grid Computing, with their work entitled Chrysaor: Fine-Grained, Fault-Tolerant Cloud-of-Clouds MapReduce.
Fernando Ramos was invited to deliver a keynote speech at DISSECT 2017 - 3rd IEEE/IFIP Workshop on Security for Emerging Distributed Network Technologies, that will take place at May 12th, 2017, in Lisbon, Portugal.
The speech will be about Sirius, a network virtualization platform that addresses security and dependability limitations of multi-tenant network virtualization platforms, by creating the abstraction of user-centric clouds.
