The second General Assembly of the PersonAAL project took place in Lisbon on the 4th and 5th of February, organised by Lasige.

The PersonAAL project aims at extending the time older people can live independently in their homes, by integrating ubiquitous data collection, intelligent reasoning mechanisms, and automatic context-dependent adaptation of supportive applications to promote increased awareness and healthier lifestyles.

The work developed by Tiago Guerreiro and Hugo Nicolau, was strongly highlighted in the recent high-tech news of P3 (Público newspaper). The article with the title "They placed technology at the service of blind people" presents in detail the HoliBraille tool, developed to allow and facilitate the writing in Braille in the "smartphones", described in the Braille2.1 project webpage.

LaSIGE recently received the notification of acceptance of one more H2020 project.
The project, entitled DiSIEM - Diversity Enhancements for SIEMs, will be lead by LaSIGE and will count with participants from UK, Portugal, Spain and Germany.

Started in January 2016 a new project in collaboration with Rice University, funded by FLAD - Luso-American Development Foundation under the "FLAD/NSF 2015 Portugal-U.S. Research Networks Program".
The project entitled "Static Verification of Safe Parallelism" will complement the research of an existing project, funded by NSF (USA), that is being developed by Brigham University, Rice University, and University of Utah.

Within the framework of the Erasmus + strategic partnership ParIS (Partnership in Information Security), representatives from the four partner universities met in Kiev, Ukraine, from 22nd to 23rd of October, for the first annual project meeting.

LaSIGE will most probably increase his participation in the COST Actions programme, through the recently invitation, made to Francisco Couto, to entry to the Cost Action AFACTT list of Participants.
The main objective of AFACTT is to initiate a network that will coordinate European CTT (Cell-based Tolerance-inducing Therapies ) efforts to minimise overlap and maximise comparison of the diverse approaches through establishment of consensus monitoring parameters.
