HonorsFrom Lasige Best Paper Award at CloudCom 2011 Conference
LASIGE researchers won "Best Paper Award" at IEEE CloudCom'11, held at Athens Greece, from November 29th to December 1st, 2011, with the paper "Byzantine Fault-Tolerant MapReduce: Faults are Not Just Crashes", by Pedro Costa, Marcelo Pasin, Alysson Bessani and Miguel Correia.
Best Paper Award at EuroITV 2011 Conference
LASIGE researchers were distinguished with the "Best Paper Award" at EuroITV 2011 Conference, held at Lisbon, Portugal, from June 29th to July 1st, 2011, with the paper "iFelt: Accessing Movies Through Our Emotions" by Eva Oliveira, Pedro Martins & Teresa Chambel.
Best Paper Award - ECSA 2010
Prof. Antónia Lopes was distinguished with the "Best Paper Award" at ECSA 2010 - 4th European Conference on Software Architecture, held at Copenhagen, Denmark, in August 2010, with the paper "A model for Dynamic Reconfiguration in Service-oriented Architectures" co-authored with José Luiz Fiadeiro.
Best Paper Award - SBRC 2009
Prof. Alysson Bessani was distinguished with the "Best Paper Award" on the SBRC 2009 - 27th Brazilian Symposium on Computer Networks and Distributed Systems with the paper "Sistemas de Quóruns Bizantinos Pró-Ativos" co-authored with Eduardo Alchieri, Joni da Silva Fraga and Fernando Pereira.
Prof. Paulo Veríssimo named ACM Fellow - 2009
Professor Paulo Verissimo, faculty of FCUL and Director of LaSIGE, has been named ACM Fellow, 2009. According to ACM, the ACM Fellowship is awarded for «outstanding accomplishments in computing and information technology, and/or outstanding service to ACM and the larger computing community». After having been named IEEE Fellow in 2007, this recognition confirms his contributions to dependable and secure distributed computing.
Best Student Paper Award - DISC 2009
Henrique Moniz, LASIGE PhD student, was distinguished with the "Best Student Paper Award" at the 23rd International Symposium on Distributed Computing (DISC 2009) with the paper Randomization Can Be a Healer: Consensus with Dynamic Omission Failures, Authors: Henrique Moniz, Nuno F. Neves, Miguel Correia, Paulo Veríssimo.

Luís Carriço, Luís Duarte, Marco Sá, Rogério Bandeira and Pedro Antunes, were distinguished with the "Best Paper Award" at the 13th International Conference on Computer Supported Cooperative Work in Design (CSCWD'09), held in Santiago, Chile, April 22 - 24, 2009 with the work Tackling Collaborative-Design of Mobile Prototypes.
Best Student Paper Award - Pervasive Health 2009
Marco de Sá was distinguished with the Best Student Paper Award Sponsored by NOKIA at the 3rd International Conference on Pervasive Computing Technologies for Healthcare 2009, with his work Mobile Support for Personalized Therapies - OmniSCOPE: Richer Artefacts and Data Collection, co-authored with Prof. Luís Carriço.

Rui Lopes and his advisor Prof. Luís Carriço, both LaSIGE researchers, have been distinguished with the best paper award at the W4A'08 - International Cross-Disciplinary Conference on Web Accessibility, for their work on The impact of accessibility assessment in macro scale universal usability studies of the web.

Prof. Paulo Veríssimo - Elevation to IEEE Fellow - 2007
The IEEE - Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers board of Directors had selected Prof. Paulo Veríssimo to one of the Institute's most prestigious honors, elevation to IEEE fellow, with the following citation: "for contributions to dependable and secure distributed computing".

The paper by Paulo Carreira, Helena Galhardas, João Pereira and Andrzej Wichert, "ONE-TO MANY DATA TRANSFORMATION OPERATIONS - Optimization and Execution on an RDBMS", won the Best Student Paper Award at ICEIS2007 conference, held at Funchal, Madeira, Portugal in June 12-16, 2007.

European Descartes Science Prize 2004
The project Malicious and Accidental Fault Tolerance for Internet Applications - MAFTIA was one of the European Descartes Science Prize 2004 finalists where it earned an Honorable Mention. Prof. Paulo Veríssimo, was the leader of the LASIGE team involved in the project.
